NIU has a search filter in the course registration system to help students make informed decisions about the courses they choose at the time of registration. They can search for and select classes that use low (total course materials cost of $40 or less) or zero cost course materials in MyNIU.

Yes

A brief description of the incentives to encourage the authorship, peer review, and/or adoption of open access textbooks:
Faculty receive regular communication from department chairs and provost encouraging faculty to structure their courses with no or low cost materials. Faculty courses are listed as such in the course registration system, which incentivizes student enrollment in their courses.
