The Office of Inclusion: Multicultural and LGBTQIA Student Services welcomes students to our inclusive campus community where we support cultural, gender, and sexuality diversity through programming, events, and thoughtful community engagement in a safe and supportive environment.
Equity and Access Office:
The Equity and Access Office (EAO) ensures the university is meeting its obligations regarding:
- affirmative action in employment
- equal opportunity
- non-discrimination and harassment
- accessibility and reasonable accommodations for individuals with disabilities

Furthermore, as part of NAU’s commitment to Inclusive Excellence, the university has established five diversity commissions that are advisory to the Vice President of Inclusive Excellence and the Center of Inclusive Excellence and Access. These commissions represent the interests and voices of students, staff, and faculty across a spectrum of identities.
Diversity Fellows Program:
The Diversity Fellows initiative is a new Presidential initiative to 1) recognize those that have demonstrated commitment to diversity and inclusion at NAU; 2) serve as NAU community leaders in diversity and inclusion providing a vision to institutional efforts in diversity and inclusion, and; 3) serve as liaisons to the NAU community in the implementation of the NAU Diversity Strategic Plan (DSP). All faculty, staff, student employees and administrators take mandatory online training on Harassment and Discrimination Prevention and Accommodating Disabilities. Additional online trainings are offered on bias awareness and workplace diversity. The Office of Inclusion: Multicultural & LGBTQIA Student Services offers in person Zone and bias awareness trainings and workshops for employees and students. The university diversity commissions (LGBTQIA, Ethnic Diversity, Disability Access and Design, Status of Women, and Native Americans) and diversity centered academic unites offer workshops, seminars and symposiums on these topics. In particular, presentations are often available from the Ethnic Studies, Women and Gender Studies, Applied Indigenous Studies
