Has the institution conducted a GHG emissions inventory within the previous three years that includes all Scope 1 and 2 emissions? :
Yes

A copy of the most recent GHG emissions inventory:
A brief description of the methodology and/or tool used to complete the GHG emissions inventory:

NAU uses SIMAP for annual emission reporting calculations, previously known as the Campus Carbon Calculator: Carbon Management and Analysis Platform (CarbonMAP). We report our emissions annual or bi-annual through Second Nature.

Scope 1: Natural Gas numbers and an analysis of vehicle miles traveled per campus vehicle type.
Scope 2: Electricity bills and purchased RECs
Scope 3: Climate Science and Solutions Graduate class- Commuting and Air Travel

Has the GHG emissions inventory been validated internally by personnel who are independent of the GHG accounting and reporting process and/or verified by an independent, external third party?:
Yes

A brief description of the GHG inventory verification process:

A graduate class in our Climate Science and Solutions reworked through our emission data as well as additional Scope III calculations for Commuting and Air Travel projections in the Spring of 2019. We are working with a CSS Graduate Student and Debbie Huntzinger to create a management plan for calculating our air travel emissions in the summer of 2020.

Documentation to support the GHG inventory verification process:
Gross Scope 1 GHG emissions, performance year:
Weight in MTCO2e
Stationary combustion 22,199.31 Metric tons of CO2 equivalent
Other sources (mobile combustion, process emissions, fugitive emissions) 1,728.16 Metric tons of CO2 equivalent

Total gross Scope 1 GHG emissions, performance year:
23,927.47 Metric tons of CO2 equivalent

Gross Scope 2 GHG emissions, performance year (market-based):
Weight in MTCO2e
Imported electricity 30,263.53 Metric tons of CO2 equivalent
Imported thermal energy 0 Metric tons of CO2 equivalent

Total gross Scope 2 GHG emissions, performance year:
30,263.53 Metric tons of CO2 equivalent

Gross GHG emissions from biogenic sources, performance year:
0 Metric tons of CO2 equivalent

Does the GHG emissions inventory include Scope 3 emissions from the following sources?:
Yes or No Weight in MTCO2e
Business travel --- 2,564.63 Metric tons of CO2 equivalent
Commuting --- 4,523.68 Metric tons of CO2 equivalent
Purchased goods and services --- ---
Capital goods --- ---
Fuel- and energy-related activities not included in Scope 1 or Scope 2 --- ---
Waste generated in operations --- 0 Metric tons of CO2 equivalent
Other sources --- 0 Metric tons of CO2 equivalent

Total Scope 3 GHG emissions, performance year:
7,088.31 Metric tons of CO2 equivalent

A brief description of how the institution accounted for its Scope 3 emissions:

We have conducted some Scope III commuter and air travel samples in past years. However, without a process in place, these emissions have not been calculated. We plan to utilize on campus learning opportunities and an update to our climate action plan to further address these holes in our emission reporting.

Has the institution completed an inventory within the previous three years to quantify its air pollutant emissions?:
Yes

Annual weight of emissions for::
Weight of Emissions
Nitrogen oxides (NOx) 10.06 Tons
Sulfur oxides (SOx) 0.13 Tons
Carbon monoxide (CO) 20.14 Tons
Particulate matter (PM) 9.53 Tons
Ozone (O3) ---
Lead (Pb) 0.00 Tons
Hazardous air pollutants (HAPs) ---
Ozone-depleting compounds (ODCs) ---
Other standard categories of air emissions identified in permits and/or regulations 1.97 Tons

Do the air pollutant emissions figures provided include the following sources?:
Yes or No
Major stationary sources ---
Area sources ---
Mobile sources ---
Commuting ---
Off-site electricity production ---

A brief description of the methodology(ies) the institution used to complete its air emissions inventory:

NAU uses the state & local emissions inventory system (SLEIS) which is managed by the Arizona Department of Environmental Quality.

Gross Scope 2 GHG emissions from purchased electricity (location-based):
30,264 Metric tons of CO2 equivalent

Gross Scope 2 GHG emissions from imported thermal energy (location-based) :
