A brief description of the innovative policy, practice, program, or outcome:
The Provost’s office at Northern Arizona University has taken significant steps to expand coordination of sustainability within our curriculum by hiring an Academic Coordinator of Sustainability. This position works closely with the Office of Sustainability, the Environmental Caucus, and the Provost’s Office. The primary responsibilities of the position are to organize and innovate sustainability initiatives within the University’s curriculum, across all colleges. Currently this position is held by Dr. Rod Parnell who is a long-time leader in sustainability at the University. This position will significantly contribute to the expansion of the Global Learning Initiative, which incorporates three main principles into all academic areas. These principles are global learning, diversity, and environmental sustainability.
