A brief description of the method(s) used to gather data about employee commuting:
A brief survey entitled "How do you get to work? 60 second survey" was distributed via the #NAITUserMessages daily newsletter email to all employees in April 2015. The survey invited employees to identify which campus they commute to, what their primary mode of transportation has been over the past year (driving alone, carpooling, bus, LRT, walking, bicycling, telecommuting), and what they anticipate their primary mode of transportation to work will be once the LRT line to NAIT is complete (expected to open Summer 2015; same categories from previous question). Respondents were also asked to provide the first 3 digits of their postal codes and to share any transportation-related comments they may have. A total of 700 responses were collected, which represents a ~21% response rate.
