A brief description of the institution’s indoor air quality program(s) (including information about regular auditing or monitoring, mechanisms for occupants to register complaints, and action plans):
NAIT adheres to the Indoor Air Quality practices as outlined by Work Safe Alberta (http://employment.alberta.ca/documents/WHS/WHS-PUB_gh015.pdf). If a complaint or concern is brought forward the Maintenance and Operations department will review the situation with Health and Safety Services to achieve a resolution. In 2013, NAIT hired a Certified Industrial Hygienist to manage the Indoor Air Quality Programs. Having an in-house hygienist on staff enables a quicker response and more in depth analysis of any indoor air quality concerns. NAIT has purchased a number of different types of hygiene equipment to identify and monitor indoor air quality issues when they are identified.
