Data source(s) and notes about the submission:
Number of academic divisions includes: School of Sustainable Business and Environmental Management (SSBEM), School of Trades, School of Health Sciences (SHS), JR Shaw School of Business (JRSSB), School of Information Communication & Engineering Technologies (SICET), and the Department of Corporate, International, and Continuing Education (DCICE). Number of academic departments represents number of for-credit programs. Even though our reporting year is 2013/2014, the 2014/2015 program number was used because the AC-1 and AC-2 were completed using this data (13/14 unavailable). FTE enrollment figure calculated as FLE - a unit measure of enrollment in which one FLE represents one student for a year of study (typically September through April) taking a Full Load. Represents the number of units (credits, contact hours or some other units) of load required to complete the requirements for a year of study (typically September through April) in a specific program as determined by the structure of the program. FLE is expressed as a ratio of actual units taken to units required by the program. FTE of employees includes all active employees, regardless of NASA/AUPE/MAE group or Salaried/Casual/Sessional or full/part time status. Contractors (CED) employees are included in headcount but not in FTE as the FTE information is not maintained in our system. NAIT's Human Resources department calculated annual employee FTE and headcount figures by taking the average of employee numbers on July 1, 2013 and June 30, 2014. FTE of distance education students represents number of correspondence and eLearning students; figure was calculated using headcount (4,374) and average number of classes per head (2.4), under the assumption that a full course load is 10 courses. Therefore 2.4/10*4374=1049.76. Needed to manually estimate FTE as institution does not track. Number of undergraduate students include all applied degree and degree seeking students. Number of degree-seeking students figure was calculated by subtracting # of non-credit students from total unduplicated headcount figure (39,339 - 14,467 = 24,872). This figure includes apprentices, even though they technically do not receive a NAIT parchment, as they are still seeking a formal award.
