A brief description of how sustainability is included in new employee orientation:
NAIT offers two formal elements of its new employee orientation. The first is one-on-one meetings with the HR Assistant responsible for the new employee's work area. This session covers a variety of elements including: compensation, benefits, pension, NAIT policies/procedures, pay practices, NAIT's self-service HR system and the NAIT employee portal. Included in the employee portal discussion is a site tour, identifying sources of information on policies, benefit info and our Sustainability site/initiatives.
The second element of new employee orientation is a formal celebration. New staff are invited to attend a 2 hour session which includes an introduction from our President, as well as representation from over 10 different work areas around NAIT. The event is built around a “world café” theme which provides a comfortable and engaging opportunity for staff to meet one another and find out what NAIT has to offer. Areas represented are; HR, Corporate Communications, Advancement, Mental Health Committee, Learning and Teaching Commons, Protective Services, Health & Safety Services, Safe Spaces Committee and Athletics & Recreation. Dr. Feltham speaks on why NAIT is Essential, our 4 promises, our NAIT values and why NAIT is a great place to be a part of.
