A brief description of how the institution engages in public policy advocacy for sustainability, including the issues, bills, and ordinances for or against which the institution has advocated:
- Solicited funds from federal government under KIPS program to support the replacement of all windows on main campus (site covers over 50 acres) and replace heating and cooling equipment with high efficiency equipment to reduce environmental foot print.
- Work with local aboriginal communities to create youth leadership programs, focus on positive lifestyle and completion of secondary education.
- Work with local municipal governments on creating safe and efficient water waste/water treatment facilities and operator training.
- Co-fund allied research project with industry (Ledcor) government of Alberta to promote Oil Sands Tailing Pond reclamation.
