A brief description of the institution’s sustainability partnerships with the local community:
- Ongoing partnership with United Way, hosting work place fundraising campaigns and providing donations for other work place campaigns.
- Partner with non profit "Careers Next Generation" to introduce high school students to workplace safety and specific trade areas and coop programs with real employers. Currently negotiation with local high school boards for high school credit.
- Provide opportunities for local charities to use two outdoor electronic billboards to promote their respective charities for free. Sign exposures in excess of 30,000 per day.
- Student projects (credit programs) provide website design for local registered charities.
- Each year allocate over $12,000 of in kind gifts to local charities to use within fundraising activities, ie. dinner is 4 star on campus restaurant or culinary students preparing meal in private residence.
- Work with Shell and the community of Peace River to develop Boreal Research Center, current projects included reclamation of wet lands and re-habituation of abandoned well sites.
