A brief description of the pre-consumer food waste composting program:
Our kitchens collect material for use in the Biology Sciences Technology vermicompost program. The soil grown in these labs will eventually be used to grow the herb gardens for our kitchens. Food Services is working with Custodial to develop a partnership agreement with the Edmonton Waste Management Center that would that would see a 90% diversion rate from landfill, 40% of which will be diverted to composting facilities.
