A brief description of the institution’s wellness and/or employee assistance program(s):
The University is dedicated to the emotional and mental wellbeing of all its community members. Students have access to 24/7 mental health counseling, self-guided cognitive behavioral training program and numerous support groups and resources. Further, resources are provided and shared with staff and faculty to address concerns they may recognize in students to help get them to the resources they may need.
The employee assistance program offers 24/7 counseling services for personal, financial, health and family welfare issues. Along with counseling services, the University also helps with finding caregivers and family support through care.com. The University offers 6 free sessions with Betterhelp telehealth counseling and access to a licensed clinician through EAP New Directions. In addition, employees enrolled in Northeastern’s health plan have access to telemedicine through Blue Cross Blue Shield’s partner Well Connection that provides connections to licensed therapists, psychiatrists, or medical doctors. Blue Cross Blue Shield Enrollees also have access to holistic resources and a range of mind and body wellness program such as yoga, tai chi, acupuncture, nutrition counseling, massage therapy, and more.
Virgin Pulse is a physical health benefit offering exercise incentives along with local gym facilities; they are offered to all benefits earning staff and faculty.
