Unbundled renewable energy products
kWh | MMBtu | |
Purchased RECs, GOs, I-RECs or equivalent unbundled renewable energy products certified by a third party | 106,000,000 Kilowatt-hours | 361,672 MMBtu |
A brief description of the unbundled renewable energy products:
The University purchased renewable energy credits (RECS) equal to the estimated annual electricity consumption for the years 2020 – 2022 (3 years). In addition to the RECs for the electricity consumption, the University purchased an additional 3 years of Carbon Offsets that had a calculated metric ton carbon equivalent (MTCe) to the Scope 1 emissions the campus generated through the direct combustion of fossil fuels. The additional REC purchase allowed the university to demonstrate a commitment to supporting alternative energy and demonstrate environmental leadership until efficiency, fuel switching, or other efforts reduce University Scope 1 emissions to zero.
