The President's Action plan has 9 specific steps to address systemic racism university wide. Specific efforts are being made to increase diversity and representation at all levels and to improve accountability across all departments. To ensure awareness of bias, cultural and racial awareness training is being universally instituted.

Northeastern has developed and enhanced numerous programs to support underrepresented groups on campus and provides development tools, immersive experiences, mentoring and opportunity. The University has a strong history of hiring its graduates and help promote their career objectives. One tool is the Strategic Advancement of Rising Scholars (STARS) Fellowship Bridge to the Doctorate program funded by the National Science Foundation.
