A key focus of the council’s work is to promote scholarship and curricular innovation that advances the cause of racial justice. Efforts are developed at programmatic and department level to support the Presidential Council's goals. The President's Action plan has 9 specific steps to address systemic racism university wide. Specific efforts are being made to increase diversity and representation at all levels and to improve accountability across all departments. Northeastern has developed and enhanced numerous programs to support underrepresented groups on campus and provides development tools, immersive experiences, mentoring and opportunity. The University has a strong history of hiring its graduates and help promote their career objectives.
