Does the institution have an ongoing program that offers incentives for academic staff in multiple disciplines or departments to develop new sustainability courses and/or incorporate sustainability into existing courses? :
Yes

A brief description of the incentive program(s):

The Climate Justice Project at North Seattle College, in partnership with Bellevue College, seeks to build bridges between our disciplines to help faculty incorporate climate justice and civic engagement into their core curriculum, in ways that empower students and encourages student retention and success. Faculty who take part in a Climate Justice Institute, or Workshop, will design an assignment, lesson, or module, that weaves climate justice and civic engagement into one or more of their classes. This project at North Seattle College is thanks to funding from the National Science Foundation, and additional support from the Office of Instruction and the Office for Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion at North Seattle College. More info can be found here, https://northseattle.edu/climate-justice.

Furthermore, the Sustainability Office provides sustainability-related co-curricular support to all faculty. The Sustainability Office also works with the Teaching and Learning Center providing professional development to its faculty and staff.

A brief description of the incentives that academic staff who participate in the program(s) receive:

Through the Climate Justice Project, faculty can receive monetary stipends, moderated group brainstorming sessions, one-on-one consultation, and general curriculum development assistance.

The Office of Sustainability helps faculty by organizing and facilitating forums around a topic of interest that supports a sustainability-related theme in a program or course. Co-curricular support includes contacting non-profits as guest-speaker to a class or open-forum, and distributing student surveys. The Sustainability Coordinator provides co-teaching support by serving as an adviser and client for Campus as a Living Lab projects for faculty.

Also, instructors and students are able to apply to the Sustainability Fund. When student projects are developed in a course, we can use the funding to pay for the project, help students achieve their goals with the project, and act as a pseudo-client so they get both the benefit of the academic experience, while having actionable project experience.
