Has the institution held at least one sustainability-related outreach campaign during the previous three years that was directed at employees and yielded measurable, positive results in advancing sustainability?:
Yes

Name of the campaign:
Putting the Dirt back in Earth Day

A brief description of the campaign, including how students and/or employees were engaged:

As part of our broader Earth Week celebrations this year, the Sustainability Office chose to highlight sustainable growing methods, and we had our Community Garden project manager give a lecture on permaculture growing techniques, and how they can be incorporated to your average at home garden. Additionally, we worked with different courses and instructors to spread that message, and bring Laura (project manager and authority on permaculture) to other courses and excite students about more sustainable growing methods. The following day, we also had a work part at the community garden site, with many campus community members and members of the greater Licton Springs community.

A brief description of the measured positive impact(s) of the campaign:

We directly spoke with over 80 students throughout the multiple talks on permaculture and sustainable agriculture, and logged well over 50 volunteer hours the following day at the work party. Summer 2014.

Continual efforts include the Sustainability Office signing up staff and students for 6 plots in the P-Patch that can demonstrate "Building a Sustainable Community." Efforts include donating crops, providing education outreach events, and participating in group clean-ups and neighborhood gatherings.

A brief description of other sustainability-related outreach campaigns, including measured positive impacts:

Another campaign that the sustainability office led in Spring 2017 was integrating compost bins into staff break-rooms and campus events. Data was collected over the course of a month and almost a ton of organic waste was diverted from the landfill. This program is now ongoing and supported by the facilities staff and sustainability office.
