A brief description of the methodology used to track and calculate the number of recordable incidents of work-related injury or ill health :

Mishap injuries are sorted in the following categories: first aid, other recordable (sought care above first aid but no loss time or restrictions), restricted duty (injury resulted in a restriction to prevent them from completing their normal duties), and days away from work (injury resulted in time away from work due to being written out or restrictions to the point that would not allow completion of work task). These numbers are entered into a YTD as well as a monthly formula that takes into consideration the total hours worked in an area and the Division therefore producing an "incident rate."
