A brief description of the methodology the institution followed to complete the research inventory:

Two resources were used to compile NC State faculty research, RADAR and Web of Science. RADAR is a system used by NC State for researchers to submit their research grants and awards, and it allowed our team to download all submissions from the previous three years. We then reviewed all of the abstracts from the query to determine if the research aligned with any of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals. If a researcher was not a faculty member of the university (i.e. an extension specialist or post-doc scholar), then they were excluded from the research inventory. We chose to exclude those employees because our total number of employees that conduct research is only representative of faculty researchers. In addition to RADAR, we used Web of Science to capture any research that may not have been submitted to RADAR, and Web of Science allowed us to search specifically for NC State affiliates. A similar process was then used to evaluate the abstracts and compare against the Sustainable Development Goals.
