A brief description of the student group, including its activities:
The Wolfpack Environmental Student Association (WESA) was founded in the summer of 2007. The idea for such an organization came about through conversations held in the spring semester of 2007 regarding a sincere need and desire for change in the university's approach to environmental-related issues, particularly the academic curriculum. After researching similar groups registered with the university in the past, the founders decided that an appropriate outlet for students concerned with environment- and sustainability-related topics did not currently exist, and resolved to form an enduring organization to address this need.
In its first year as an organization, WESA grew into one of the largest student groups on the NC State campus, with over 200 members from all stages of academic careers and from almost every college subscribing to its mailing list. Now WESA has over a 100 regular attendees to meetings and over 400 on their listserv.
