A brief description of the institution’s programs that help increase the diversity of higher education faculty :
Niagara College has a Tuition Assistance practice for full time employees. The main intent of this practice is to support the development of enhanced skills and abilities for employees which will contribute to the strategic direction of the college. The following outlines the tuition assistance practice:
- The college will support up to 50% of the cost of tuition fees for any credit course offered by an accredited post-secondary academic institution which leads to a certificate, diploma or an undergraduate degree, to a lifetime maximum of $5,000.
- The college will support up to 50% of the cost of tuition fees for any credit course offered by an accredited post-secondary academic institution which leads to a Master's degree, to a lifetime maximum of $7,500.
- The college will support up to 50% of the cost of tuition fees for any credit course offered by an accredited post-secondary academic institution leading to a Doctoral degree, to a lifetime maximum of $12,000.
Other practices that support professional development include the ability for full time employees to take any Niagara College credit course for $20.00. Niagara College also has professional development leaves available where employees can apply and those who qualify can receive paid leave including faculty and standing practice for support staff. A tuition subsidy is also available for dependent children of full time employees taking courses at Niagara College.
