A brief description of the sustainable operations and maintenance policy/program and/or O+M rating system(s) used:
NYU’s sustainable operational maintenance policies and programs have multiple attributes. For instance, all applicable building space is managed for environmental and indoor air quality purposes via a green cleaning policy, resource use reduction via energy benchmarking and water benchmarking, and climate performance via annual calculation of greenhouse gas emissions. For the latter, NYU has a stated goal of 50% reduction of emissions on a per square foot basis by 2025 and climate neutrality by 2040, and operations and maintenance is part of managing towards that goal.
NYU uses EPA’s ENERGY STAR Portfolio Manager, other government-provided reporting tools, utility websites and reporting, and third party software solutions to manage and track relevant data and progress.
