A brief description of any internal sustainability professional development and training opportunities that the institution makes available to non-academic staff:

NYU offers a variety of professional development and training opportunities to non-academic staff through NYUiLearn, NYU’s employee learning management system. Sustainability related professional development trainings currently available to all full- and part-time employees include the i) Green Events Standard Training, which reviews NYU’s Green Events Standard that aims to reduce waste and encourage a minimum threshold for sustainable event planning, and ii) NYU Recycling Training, which teaches the NYU community about recycling fundamentals and recycling on campus. NYU also offers a Building Operations and Maintenance course and an HVAC - Cooling and Distribution course for the NYU Facilities and Construction Management teams.  


A brief description of any external professional development and training opportunities in sustainability that are supported by the institution :

Departments allocate money for external professional development opportunities and choose to send employees to different opportunities as they see fit. For example, the Office of Sustainability pays for staff to attend a variety of professional development opportunities, including courses to obtain LEED Green Associate accreditations, climate messaging cohort programs, and green building classes.
