Vitale Assistant Director, Sustainability NYU Office of Sustainability |
Percentage of new employees that are offered orientation and/or outreach and guidance materials that cover sustainability topics:
A brief description of how sustainability is included in new employee orientation:
Candidates are introduced to sustainability through the recruitment process and, if hired, through onboarding process. Every NYU staff/administrator job posting contains a line about the University's commitment to sustainability that is seen by all job applicants.
New employees to NYU attended an onboarding presentation lead by Human Resources. Through this presentation new employees are taught the basics about NYU’s values including the university’s commitment to sustainability. The presentation informs employees of NYU’s carbon goals for 2025 and 2040. It highlights the university’s sustainability commitments including LEED-certified buildings and waste reduction practices as well as ways for employees to get involved.
Lastly, NYU's Office of Sustainability also regularly speaks at orientations for new employees, both staff and faculty.
