A brief description of how the figure above was determined:

NYU’s Office of Sustainability reviewed every undergraduate and graduate program (excluding minors) using the NYU Bulletin to determine whether each program 1) adopted a sustainability focused learning outcome, 2) required a sustainability focused course in its curriculum, or 3) offered a significant number of sustainability focused courses and therefore is deemed a sustainability-focused program by our Office. If any program met any of these criteria, it was assumed that students graduating from those programs have an understanding of sustainability. 

NYU’s Office of Sustainability then used an internal database called UDW+ to calculate the number of students that graduate from the different undergraduate and graduate programs.
