A brief description of the institution’s main campus and other aspects of the institutional boundary used to complete this report:
NYU is composed of three main campuses located in New York City (USA), Abu Dhabi (UAE), and Shanghai (China), as well as multiple additional Global Academic Centers. This STARS report, however, only pertains to NYU’s New York City campus.
In New York City, NYU does not have a single "campus", but rather owns or leases more than 100 buildings in New York City, many of them concentrated near Washington Square Park and First Avenue in Manhattan and downtown Brooklyn. These represent approximately 14,469,000 square feet of building space. Operationally, NYU strives to include data related to all buildings which are financially controlled and operated by the University, and which are occupied by University students, faculty or staff. These geographic and operational boundaries frame the data and information included in our STARS submission. There are several specific exclusions:
1) NYU Langone Health (including its School of Medicine) do not fall within the organizational boundary established by this assessment; neither their impacts nor their buildings' square footage is included. All references to New York University or NYU in this report are made with the exclusion of NYU Langone Health.
2. This report includes only NYU’s New York City locations. This assessment does not include any NYU Global Academic Centers, NYU Abu Dhabi, or NYU Shanghai. All references to New York University or NYU in this report are made with the exclusion of these other locations and refer solely to New York University’s New York City locations.
