A brief description of the institution’s programs that help increase the diversity of higher education faculty :
The Faculty Resource Network (FRN) at NYU is an award-winning professional development initiative that sponsors programs for faculty members from a consortium of 52 colleges and universities, the majority of which are minority-serving. The Network includes a core group of 15 Historically Black Colleges and Universities, as well as 13 Hispanic-serving campuses, and is fully committed to training and developing faculty in the context of the diversity that characterizes the United States. The FRN hosts symposia, intensive seminars, and other scholarly events, all of which are designed to improve the quality of teaching and learning at its member and affiliate institutions.

The NYU Postdoctoral and Transition Program for Academic Diversity Fellowship Program attracts and supports promising scholars and educators from different backgrounds, races, ethnic groups, and other diverse groups whose life experience, research experience, and employment background will contribute significantly to academic excellence. Fellows teach a maximum of one course per semester, participate in school and departmental activities, and have mentorship opportunities to prepare them for an academic career. Fellows are appointed as “Assistant Professor/Faculty Fellow” and receive a $40,000 nine-month salary; an annual housing allowance ($20,000); a research allowance ($2,000); and reimbursement for one-time relocation fees (up to $3,000).
