A brief description of steps taken to reduce hazardous, universal, and non-regulated chemical waste:

The NYU Safety Policy Manual on the Hazardous Waste Minimization and Disposal outlines NYUs intentions to follow these standards:
1) comply with all federal, state and local laws which pertain to the minimization and disposal of hazardous waste;
2) ensure that human health and the environment are
protected;
3) minimize the amount of hazardous waste generated; and
4) minimize the use of toxic materials.

NYU's Safety Policy on Universal Waste Minimization and Disposal Policy outlines NYU's intentions to meet the following standards:
1) comply with all federal, state and local laws which pertain to the minimization and disposal of universal waste;
2) ensure that human health and the environmental are protected;
3) ensure the safe use, storage and disposal of universal waste; and
4) ensure the minimization of the amount of universal waste generated.

The NYU Safety Policy on Regulated Medical Waste outlines procedures for the handling and disposal of Regulated Medical Waste in order to minimize employee exposure and injuries from Regulated Medical Waste.
