As one of the most dense, urban campuses in the country, located in the heart of Greenwich Village in New York City, NYU is very well-served by public transit (subway, commuter rail, bus, ferry), and less than 2% of students, faculty and staff commute to campus using a car or taxi.
More than 60% walk or bike to campus from their place of residence daily.
Given the extraordinarily small number of campus community members which own, much less routinely use, much less commute with, a personal vehicle, a car- or van-pool incentive program is not applicable. A very small number of parking spaces may be available in the NYC neighborhood surrounding our embedded, urban campus, but these are not dedicated or particularly available for commuters.
