A brief description of the pre-consumer food waste composting program:
NYU dining services recycles materials such as used fryer oil, metal, glass and plastic.
But it also separates kitchen waste, pre-consumer food waste, and now on a pilot basis, post-consumer food waste in one of the largest composting operations in New York City.
Organic wastes are hauled by Action Carting to McEnroe Farms on the NY-MA border, north of NYC, where they are rendered into rich, useful compost at their farm / facility.
