A brief description of the sustainability-focused immersive experience(s) offered by the institution:
The Bronfman Green Fellowship program is a ten-week environmental and Jewish learning and action fellowship, sponsored by NYU's Bronfman Center for Jewish Student Life. The fellowship allows for students to grapple with the sociocultural dimension of environmental issues, with a focus on Jewish tradition; it is an exploration of the intersection of basic human needs and the environment.
Students meet weekly at the Bronfman Center and at site visits throughout New York City and New York State for hands-on learning and volunteering. Additionally, students travel to Israel, where they perform service work and participate in special seminars on Judaism, Israel and the environment. As part of the action component of the program, the fellows are awarded a substantial grant to be used toward projects that will assist in the environmental improvement of their communities.
