Earth Week at NYU features exciting programs, volunteer opportunities and events as part of the month long celebration of NYU’s commitment to sustainability.
In addition to Earth Week, the university hosts a variety of conferences and speakers related to food policy, sustainability, social entrepreneurship, etc. The Sustainability website keeps a calendar of upcoming events.
In recent years, NYU has hosted Vice President Al Gore for a major address on climate change and national security, President Bill Clinton to speak about sustainability elements of the Clinton Global Initiative, Secretary-General of the United Nations Ban Ki Moon presiding over the Global Colloquium of University Presidents meeting on climate change, and other major events.
Speakers have included Van Jones, Mathis Wackernagel, Michael Shellenberger and Ted Nordhous, Colin Beavan, and many other prominent eco-luminaries.
The Environmental Studies Program hosts speakers to come and talk to students about sustainability.
NYU hosts dozens of additional environmental film screenings, career workshops, panel discussions, academic presentations, policy debates, government proposal forums, and other events each year.
