A brief description of the institution’s main campus and other aspects of the institutional boundary used to complete this report:
This report will include only main campus which is a total of 425 acres in the triangle. The main campus is bordered by Interstates 10 and 25 and University Avenue to the north which we call the "triangle". There are 250 vegetated acres that we maintain (the rest being open desert or unpaved parking areas).

Which of the following features are present on campus and which are included within the institutional boundary?:
Present? Included?
Agricultural school Yes Yes
Medical school Yes No
Other professional school with labs or clinics (e.g. dental, nursing, pharmacy, public health, veterinary) No No
Museum Yes Yes
Satellite campus Yes No
Farm larger than 2 hectares or 5 acres Yes No
Agricultural experiment station larger than 2 hectares or 5 acres Yes No
Hospital No No

The rationale for excluding any features that are present from the institutional boundary:
We are one of a handful of land grant institutions in the US that has a small acreage of farm land as well as farm animals on the main campus. We include those areas in our report. Our larger farms such as Leyendecker (10 miles away) and Fabian Garcia (1 mile away) are not included in this report because they are not attached to the main campus.

Doña Ana Community College is on the edge of our main campus and on our DACC East Campus. This campus, nor the other three community college campuses throughout the state (Grants, Alamogordo, and Carlsbad), is not included in this report because they don't follow our same set of ideals for sustainable practices and it would not benefit this report to include the outlying campuses at this time.

Also not included in the report are any buildings or grounds to the east of Sam Steel Way which includes Burrell College of Osteopathic Medicine, Arrowhead Business Park, and the Early College High School because they are not officially designated as what we call "NMSU Main".

Data source(s) and notes about the submission:
As a land grant institution we have a lot of open land on main campus that is simply turf or ponds (425 maintained acres). These areas are included in the report. We also have a lot of farm land that is part of the research (e.g., Cooperative Extension Services offices) of NMSU but is spread all over the state so not included in this report. The only land that we are including that is on the main campus is the 2-acre organic farm, the animal pens and horse barns. We chose to include these lands because they are part of the "triangle" noted above. We chose to not include the satellite community colleges because they are in the four corners of the state.
