A brief description of the institution’s methodology for evaluating employee satisfaction and engagement:
NMSU partnered with the Institute for organizational Excellence at the University of Texas at Austin. NMSu administered the survey to our faculty and staff between October 15 and November 15th of 2019. The intent was to establish a baseline and a method for measuring faculty and staff engagement and satisfaction.
A brief description of the mechanism(s) by which the institution addresses issues raised by the evaluation:
To begin moving on this important issue, NMSU created a survey findings “Action Team,” which includes individuals representing departments, colleges and employee groups across the university system. This group is charged with the following:
• Identifying NMSU system-wide activities to address the most pressing issues;
• Connecting with groups across the University system to learn what they are doing to address such issues;
• Sharing these ideas so others can consider them in their areas; and
• Tracking improvement.
Summary data was distributed to individual colleges and departments which all unit leaders discussed this survey in their areas. Engagement was open to everyone to learn more about their thoughts on the survey, and provide opportunities to suggest improvements where needed and to take part in activities that strengthen our university system.
Access the survey Executive Summary and the video and PowerPoint presentation of the survey details and findings could be found on the HRS website at https://hr.nmsu.edu/employee-survey/.
