One in five workers is employed in the food and fiber sector of the U.S. economy. A major in agricultural economics and agricultural business provides flexibility to students with diverse career interests. Our faculty is dedicated to providing knowledge and information and preparing students for the challenging world of increasingly global and information-driven agriculture, food companies and markets, and environmental and natural resource management agencies.

Interdisciplinary Degree in Water Science and Management
We face serious challenges concerning the supply, development, quality, management, and administration of water resources; responses to the challenges will have major impacts on regional economy, environmental quality, and the quality of life. A major need exists to train the next generation of water resource researchers, educators, and managers to address these challenges. This program has been developed at NMSU by a team of water experts and approved by the Governor of New Mexico in November 2011. Currently, major participating academic departments include Agricultural economics and agricultural business, Animal and Range Science, Civil Engineering, Geography, and Plant and Environmental Sciences.
