Participatory and shared governance holds a deep practice of governing at NJIT. All forms of stakeholders have governing bodies that address the matters pertaining to the welfare and improvement of this university. These bodies are Faculty Senate, Student Senate, Graduate Student Association, Alumni Association, Staff Council, Administrators Council, and Lecturer's and Educator's Council.
