NJIT's 2025 Strategic Plan lists civility, social responsibility, sustainability, and diversity as some of the core values. It also lists diversity and sustainability as two of its four pillars.

In regards to Sustainability NJIT aims at promoting a resilient future for the university, the nation, and the environment, making Sustainability an
institutional learning goal and ensuring that our students graduate as global citizens.

One of the measurable sustainability objectives listed under "Priority: Students" is to "make sustainability an institutional learning goal
and integrate it throughout the curriculum and as a focus for milestone experiences. The goal is to make the environment and sustainability a presence in student life at the university."

In regards to faculty, the report also highlights one of the key objectives as, " to encourage faculty to highlight sustainability in their scholarly activities consistent with the role of sustainability as an institutional learning goal and research focus."

It recognizes that faculty are key agents in the promotion of sustainability as an institutional learning and research goal.

The plan is published under "NJIT 2025 Strategic Plan."

There are many objectives set aside in the 2025 Strategic Plan:

1) Integrate sustainability into our community’s daily life through conservation and the use of renewable energy, informed recycling, and other
practices of the university and its subcontractors.

2)Create a baseline and plan from which NJIT will reduce its carbon footprint and execute energy conservation projects to reduce the use of fossil fuels and electricity

3) Develop an internal Energy Savings Improvement Program with demonstrated energy savings funded by NJIT outside of the annual capital renewal and replacement budget and repaid through energy cost savings

4)Promote alternative transportation options including mass transit, ride-sharing, and reduced emissions transport, and expand opportunities for
electric and hybrid-electric vehicle use

As mentioned above Diversity is one of the four pillars on which NJIT's strategic plan is built. Diversity is also one of the core missions of the campus as put forward in its 2025 Strategic Plan.

NJIT aims at redoubling efforts to enroll women and underrepresented minority students, attract and retain diverse faculty, and hire and
promote diverse administrators.

The following are key diversity objectives:

1) To create and train an institutional Diversity Committee and require the presentation of search committee plans to the deans and new Diversity Committee." Such efforts aims at standardizing search committee processes to ensure fairness and create accountability for committees and deans to report and track their diversity and inclusion efforts in faculty hiring.

2) Develop family-friendly programs, resources, and policies detailing issues important to families, women, underrepresented minorities, members of the LGBTQ+ community, and candidates with spouses/partners. NJIT aims at creating a more welcoming atmosphere for all new and existing faculty.

3)Enhance relationships with diverse professional organizations (e.g., Women in Computing Society, Society of Women Engineers, National Society of Black Engineers, and Society of Hispanic Professional Engineers) that can help
disseminate information about open faculty positions. The goal is to alert underrepresented populations to career opportunities at NJIT.

4)Develop a Diverse Faculty Fellow Program to provide fellowships for underrepresented minority group members who wish to gain valuable
teaching and research experience.
