A brief description of the methodology used to complete the course inventory :
The Office of Sustainability attained the course list for FY2021 from The Office of Institutional Effectiveness. This list consisted of 13,432 undergraduate & graduate courses. For courses with more than one section, all but one section was deleted to prevent repetition. The list was further reduced by applying 75 keywords that related to sustainability. After filtering the courses that contained the keywords in the course description or course name, the resulting list had a total of 740 courses. Each course in this list was reviewed by The Office of Sustainability & based on its description, members of the office determined whether the course was a sustainability course. For courses that were difficult to determine, the instructors were contacted for confirmation on whether or not sustainability was a focus of the course. The courses were then separated by college and then divided into undergraduate & graduate courses for each college. This list was sent to the deans of each college for revision. In the final list, sustainability-focused courses are highlighted in green and sustainability-inclusive courses are highlighted in blue.
