On campus, there are several endangered and vulnerable species identified. In birds, the first-level (frequently extinct conservation wild animals) and secondary (precious and rare conservation animals) conservation birds have been identified. It includes Falco peregrinus, Garrulax taewanus, Aix galericulata, Otus spilocephalus hambroecki Swinhoe, Otus lettia, Spilornis cheela, Accipiter virgatus affinis, and Accipiter trivirgatus. In mammals, species special in Taiwan were identified, such as Crocidura tadae and Crocidura tanakae.

Yes

Since 2006, the endemic species and their habitats have been recorded, and the campus quiet zone and undeveloped ecological zone have been designated to maintain their ecological integrity.


The methodologies used to identify endangered and vulnerable species and/or areas of biodiversity importance and any ongoing assessment and monitoring mechanisms:

NTHU commissioned a professional consultant to investigate the distribution of animals and plants in the water and land areas of the school by seasons.


A brief description of the scope of the assessment(s):

Set up 4 water area measurement stations and 6 land area measurement stations on the campus, and conduct ecological surveys every season.

Since 2006, the endemic species and their distribution areas recorded in the list have been designated as quiet campus areas and undeveloped ecological landscape areas on campus to maintain their ecological integrity.
