We exclude those from the following two types of courses:
1. Non-credit courses
2. Unoffered courses
After several meetings and discussions with the Office of Academic Affairs, the following conclusion was made. We took the following steps to identify sustainability-focused courses:
1.Courses offered by the following departments/institutes are classified as sustainability-focused:
(1) Interdisciplinary Program of Education -Program of Education for Sustainable Development
(2) Interdisciplinary Program of Nuclear Science(First Specialty: Energy & Environment)
(3) Department of Biomedical Engineering & Environmental Sciences
(4) Department of Engineering and System Science- Low Carbon Green Energy System
(5) Department of Environmental and Cultural Resources
(6) Institute of Analytical and Environmental Sciences
(7) International Ph.D. Program in Environmental Science and Technology, University System of Taiwan
(8) Program of Sustainable Development and Environmental Management
(9) Program of Energy Technology and Sustainable Society
(10) Specialty Program of Energy and Environment
(11) Program of Energy
(12) Graduate Program of Advanced Energy
2.Courses offered by the following credit programs are classified as sustainability-inclusive:
(1) Program of Medical Science and Technology
(2) Program of Urban-Rural Revitalization Education (PURRE)

3. We reviewed the remaining course syllabus to determine if they were identifiable as sustainability-inclusive. Five keywords are identified to search for sustainability-inclusive courses. They are sustainability, environment, society, governance, and social responsibility.

NTHU has 95 departments offering courses and conducting research. Besides, NTHU also has 21 research centers with no courses offered to students, thus the number of academic divisions (or equivalent) in PRE-5 is 116.
