NTNU vigorously promotes green procurement in accordance with the EPA's policy of sustainable procurement "Organizations' Priority Procurement of Environmental Protection Products" (https://reurl.cc/lovEGY ; https://reurl.cc/RrvK3e). Sustainable procurement products are mainly environmentally friendly products such as environmentally friendly label products, energy-saving labels, water-saving labels, green building materials labels, carbon-reduction labels and other environmentally friendly products, etc. Following to the EPA’s policy（https://reurl.cc/6Z5G1M）, NTNU has developed “NTNU Green procurement promotion, target implementation rate control and reporting” (https://reurl.cc/1Zen1m ) and a SOP for sustainable procurement (https://reurl.cc/ZAXRzg )

NTNU has allocated certain budget to replace old equipment and to re-install energy-saving and water-saving equipment, such as air-conditioning with environmental protection labels “Green Mark” (https://greenlife.epa.gov.tw/AdvancingPage ) recently. The purchases of energy- and water-using products and systems of the university are required to follow EPA’s “Green Life Network (https://reurl.cc/VDL63Z ;https://reurl.cc/rD6d3E)” which is based on life cycle cost analysis and highlights the concepts of recyclable, low-polluting, and resource-saving. The target implementation rates of green procurement of energy- and water-using products and systems for the last three years have reached 99%.

The use of pesticides and herbicides for planting and landscape maintenance on campus is completely chemical-free. For environmental cleaning or disinfection, the contract states that the operator must obtain environmental agent permit and pest control operator permit in accordance with the EPA's Environmental Agents Control Act (https://reurl.cc/vd63V1) , and use environmental agents that meet environmental safety standards.

A brief description of the published sustainability criteria for consumable office products:
1. The office products used in the university have always been recyclable, low-pollution, and resource-saving environmentally friendly. The university requires all offices to use “Green Mark” (issued by EPA in Taiwan) paper, which is made of recycled materials. Also, batteries and toner cartridges must be recycled.
2. The lighting equipment at the university is required to be replaced with LEDs that have the “Green Mark”. 70% of the indoor lighting equipment has been replaced already and the replacement is continuously in progress. For energy saving purposes, mercury lamps have almost completely been removed.

The furniture, flooring, ceiling, walls, and composite wood for new buildings and interior of the university are required to be fireproof building materials (free of flame), green building materials with the characteristics of Reuse, Recycle, Reduce, and Low emission materials (low-VOC). Also, the FSC certification is included in the certification criteria of the Green Building Materials Mark.

NTNU provides virtual host server service to all offices and centers to reduce their needs for server computers. The information technology (IT) and equipment of the university, such as PC, notebooks, printers, scanners, monitors, external hard drives, etc., are required to meet the qualification of "Energy Label" (issued by Bureau of Energy, Ministry of Economic Affairs) which indicates energy saving and efficient, equivalent to American ENERGY STAR.

1.To achieve sustainability objectives, food service providers are required to promote the plastic reduction policy by "not providing free disposable chopsticks and spoons" in the contract.
2.Food ingredients in all the restaurants of the university are regulated by “Act Governing Food Safety and Sanitation” and “School Health Act”. In addition, the university asks its restaurants to give priority in using local excellent seasonal agricultural products certified by the central agricultural authorities, and to purchase products that meet food safety standards and are eco-friendly. According to the "Regulation for Obliged Purchasing Units / Institutions to Purchase the Products and Services Provided by Disabled Welfare Institutions, Organizations or Sheltered Workshops" in Article 69-3 of the "People with Disabilities Rights Protection Act", procurement of food, handicraft works, cleaning supplies, gardening supplies, aids, household products, printing supplies, etc., with a minimum purchase amount of NT$1 million, the priority of purchase is given to groups with disabilities.
In order to fulfill the ISO20400 sustainable procurement guidance, it is recommended that in the selection process for procurement tenders, suppliers are encouraged to submit CSR assessment information for the purpose of procurement evaluation. （https://reurl.cc/1ZGglY; https://reurl.cc/1ZG8np）

A brief description of the published sustainability criteria for transportation and fuels:
The campus patrol fleet vehicles are electric motorcycles. And the newly purchased vehicles by the university are low-carbon and environmentally friendly electric vehicles. The university locates in the downtown area of Taipei city with a limited space, so except for official vehicles, ambulances and delivery trucks, the campus is free of transportation. To promote energy saving and carbon reduction, buses and bicycles are available for transportation between the campuses.
