The baseline was adopted as this is the year after we built the first LEED certified building, the Greening Committee was established as significant attention was drawn to our institutional carbon footprint.

A brief description of the institution’s GHG emissions reduction initiatives:

Since the Baseline year Muhlenberg College has implemented several campus wide programs to reduce our emissions. The campus is committed to purchase RECs to offset 100% of Scope 2 emissions through 2025. Additionally they are replacing all lighting on campus with LEDs. We are on pace to retrofit approximately 2 buildings per year with LED lighting. All campus boilers are being replaced with high efficiency natural gas units reducing our scope 1 emissions. This includes dorms and our MILE housing.
