A brief description of the innovative policy, practice, program, or outcome:
Muhlenberg College has adopted fretted glass on windows to prevent bird kills in a glass encased bridge in the New Science building, supported local, national and international engagement surrounding bird kills based on building design and served as a living-learning laboratory for studying bird kills by buildings. The resulting research was essential to justifying the development and implementation of the US Green Building Council's Pilot 55 Credit addressing bird-safe building practices in the Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) building ratings system.
