A brief description of the trans-fats avoidance program, policy, or practice:
Muhlenberg College uses frying oil that does not include trans-fats and seeks to avoid foods that include trans-fats in its dining operations
We offer thousands of Zero Trans-Fat (ZTF) food products that can be used for healthier meals. Anything made in house uses ZTF oils. In addition, we offer ZTF pre-made products as much possible. Among these are salad dressings, sauces, soups, bakery products, snacks, frozen foods, fruit, preserves and syrups, breads and dough, pasta, eggs, and potatoes, tortillas, oils and shortenings, as well as a range of others. Sodexo’s Supply Chain Management team continues to source ZTF products.
We also utilize a company called Filtafry which comes and collects the oil, brings it to a site to clean it, and then returns the oil to be reused.
