"---" indicates that no data was submitted for this field

Does the institution own or manage land that includes or is adjacent to legally protected areas, internationally recognized areas, priority sites for biodiversity, or regions of conservation importance?:
No

A brief description of the legally protected areas, internationally recognized areas, priority sites for biodiversity, and/or regions of conservation importance:
---

Endangered and vulnerable species

Has the institution conducted an assessment to identify endangered and vulnerable species (including migratory species) with habitats on land owned or managed by the institution?:
No

A list of endangered and vulnerable species with habitats on land owned or managed by the institution, by level of extinction risk:
---

Areas of biodiversity importance

Has the institution conducted an assessment to identify areas of biodiversity importance on land owned or managed by the institution?:
Yes

A brief description of areas of biodiversity importance on land owned or managed by the institution:
Data found 67% of the tree population is a source of pollen or nectar to various species of bees, wasps, butterflies, moths, flies, beetles, and hummingbirds. It was identified that 47% of the tree population provides a food source for bird species and 65% of the trees are drought tolerant with only 2% of the remaining 31% recognized as poor regarding drought tolerance.

For the shrub population, 85% is recognized to have pollinator importance, 49% provide food for Bird Species, and 73% of the shrubs are drought tolerant.

Within the herbaceous species population, 97% has pollinator importance, and 71% are drought tolerant.

Methodologies

If yes to either of the above, provide the following:

The methodologies used to identify endangered and vulnerable species and/or areas of biodiversity importance and any ongoing assessment and monitoring mechanisms:
In 2017, a report was conducted to evaluate the characteristics of the existing plant material within the Mount Royal University Landscape. The report was based on: Diversity, Pollinator importance, Fruiting food source for bird species, Drought tolerance, and Origin of the species. It was conducted to determine if current sustainable objectives are being met. See the attached document for specific sustainable objectives.

The report conducted gathered information on tree population, shrub, and herbaceous plant characteristics including a tree and shrub inventory and identification to determine diversity and then further classified based on Pollinator Importance, Food Source for Bird Species, Drought Tolerance.

A brief description of the scope of the assessment(s):
The purpose of the report was to evaluate the general characteristics of the existing plant material within the Mount Royal University landscape based on the following criteria:
 Diversity
 Pollinator importance
 Fruiting food source for bird species
 Drought tolerance
 Origin of the species

A brief description of the plans or programs in place to protect or positively affect identified species, habitats, and/or ecosystems:
The information is used as a baseline for future data collection, analysis and reporting. The data allows for targeted efforts on deficient and problematic areas. For future plans, this data will be used to perform calculations on carbon sequestration and capture, reduction of heat island effect, and storm water retention. A database and GIS map have been created to assist in these endeavors.
