A brief description of how representative samples were reached (if applicable) and how the cultural assessment is administered:
The survey was administered at the Spring 2021 Campus Sustainability Fair over two weeks in the spring. An incentive gift card was offered to complete the 10-minute survey. The survey was also advertised to all staff, students, and faculty on the MyMRU portal, and in the campus community newsletter, our community, over a one-month period.
A brief summary of results from the cultural assessment:
Awareness of campus resources, events, and practices remained stable between 2013 - 2016. For example, knowledge of the UPASS program was 83.33% in 2013 and 87.5% in 2016 and 88% in 2021. Infrastructure and facilities were prioritized as an important focus, specifically waste programs. In the 2021 survey, the majority of global sustainability issues were identified as 'very important to participants with the exception of genetically modified organisms. Areas for improved communication were highlighted by students and faculty.
