A brief description of the cultural competence trainings and activities:
Throughout each semester, two offices offer special events and activities to help students understand diversity and embrace it. The mission of Multicultural Student Affairs is to recruit, retain and promote degree completion of students of color and individuals with limited English. We support academic excellence and promote respect for diversity and exploration of learning from the myriad of cultures that our increasingly diverse student body presents. The Office of International Student Affairs provides services for applicants and international students enrolled at Moraine Valley Community College. Our services include academic advising, new student orientation, social and educational events, immigration advising, and housing assistance. Our goal is to enable international students to have successful academic, cultural and personal experiences while enrolled at the college. At Moraine Valley, we view the presence of international students on our campus as an opportunity for students and community members to gain broader knowledge of the diverse and multicultural world we share.
