For indoor air quality:
The Occupational Health and Safety conducts occupational hygiene monitoring including checking indoor air quality when a complaint is registered. Indoor air quality is also maintained and measured by the facilities services department through the building automation system and all complaints can be registered through them here: https://www.mohawkcollege.ca/about-mohawk/leadership-and-administration/corporate-services/facility-operations-and-engineering-1. If there is an issue with the air quality, the facilities team investigates the situation and fixes it in a timely manner. All mechanical and ventilation issues are taken seriously and addressed as soon as possible.
An example of an indoor air quality protocol or procedure is our chemical spill procedure. If air quality issues arise as a result of chemical spills or spills of some sort, action to ventilate the space is taken immediately whether it is through an open door or window. If it is a larger spill, the area is evacuated immediately and the security, health and safety and facilities management respond accordingly. https://mymohawk.mohawkcollege.ca/documents/60001/342925/Emergency-Safety-and-Security-Procedures.pdf
Mohawk College also educates employees about scents and strongly recommends being aware of and respectful of scents at the College. Read more here: https://mymohawk.mohawkcollege.ca/documents/60001/342925/Scent-Awareness-in-the-Workplace.pdf

The Learning Exchange - LEED® Gold Certification, 2011
Mohawk College Sustainability Office created the LEED® Tour to introduce students and visitors to the many design components of the H-Wing renewal project, and the LEED® Gold certification awarded to the building. The Tour is an opportunity to explore and interact with the features of this space. Intentionally designed to meet green building targets and inspire innovation as a Living Lab, the H-Wing is an indoor environment that promotes health, wellness and overall enjoyment.
The David Braley Athletic and Recreation Centre - LEED® Gold Certified, 2015
The David Braley Athletic and Recreation Centre is Mohawk’s second building designed to meet LEED® Gold building targets. Mohawk College recognizes the environmental and social impacts of sustainable indoor and outdoor building projects, while creating high quality spaces that foster academic excellence and encourage health and wellness on campus. The DBARC LEED® Tour introduces students and visitors to the design components of the new recreation centre, explaining the tangible benefits of the design and the impact each feature has on energy efficiency and cost savings.
