A brief description of how sustainability is included in new employee orientation:
Sustainability is one of Mohawk College's three foundational strategic priorities: Quality, Innovation and Sustainability. The importance of sustainability at Mohawk is presented to all new employees during orientation in the Staff Orientation Handbook. During new staff orientation, each new employee learns of Mohawk's Strategic Plan, including the strategic priority of sustainability. The most recent strategic plan calls for the College to ""Make a measureable impact on climate change".
In addition, each new hire attends the annual President's Breakfast. During the President's Breakfast (where all employees attend to celebrate the successes of the previous year and upcoming school year) the VP of Corporate Services - or equivalent executive officer - speaks to the importance of insitutional sustainability.
Lastly, the Manager of the Sustainability Office presents at new-hire onboarding sessions. Presentations typically include an overview of the Environmental Management Plan (EMP) 2.0, any active sustainability commitments, a review of green campus features, and information how to get involved in supporting campus sustainability.
