Mohawk College is a Steward of a privately owned sassafras forest at the Stoney Creek Campus. We also own a small piece of the land. We are absolutely not allowed to build or disturb the space.

Mohawk College's Fennell campus is situated adjacent to a UNESCO World Biosphere Reserve, The Niaraga Escarpment.

An inventory of the Sassafrass forest was taken back in 2015.

The Stoney Creek campus has Stewardship of 0.75 acre patch of privately protected land which house many native species including the endangered Sassafrss tree.

Mohawk College is not allowed to build or disturb the private Sassafrass forest in any sense.
