A brief description of the institution’s bicycle program, including the year the award was achieved and/or renewed:
Mohawk College is a Share the Road Silver Bicycle Friendly Business. Through our many bike programs, we help promote alternative transportation. We have a Bike Loan Program that has 13 bikes to loan to Mohawk College students and staff for up to 3 days. The Fennell Campus is also home to a 48-spot secure bike parking facility. This facility is available to all Mohawk staff and students who cycle to campus. We also promote safe cycling on campus but providing 3 bike repair stations and offering free bike tune-ups during Bike Month. In addition, we recently launched Poparide, a ride sharing platform for Mohawk students to get to campus. https://www.sharetheroad.ca/awards-database-p158825 Community in Motion Award for Transit-Friendly Organization 2017 Mohawk College also won The Community in Motion Awards in 2017. These awards are presented by the City of Hamilton to members of the community who have made an effort to actively support and promote the use of sustainable forms of transportation such as public transit, cycling or walking.
